“Paws to Read” This Summer!

The weather is finally getting warmer and it’s almost time for the start of JMRL’s summer reading programs. This year, the theme is “Paws to Read.”

JMRL offers a summer reading program for each age group: children, teens and adults.

Kick off the summer with JMRL at one of these events happening soon near you:

Central Library Kickoff Hullabaloo!
Saturday, June 7, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
The Central Library will introduce summer reading programs and sign-ups for all ages, including adults. There will be popcorn, donuts, balloon animals, a mini-book sale from the Friends of the Library, book character Geronimo Stilton, the JMRL Bookmobile, face painting and more! Also this year, JMRL is partnering with Books on Bikes for a bike parade from Clark School in Belmont to the public library to promote the JMRL summer reading program.

Gordon Avenue Library’s 20th Annual Ice Cream Social
Monday, June 9, 6:30 – 8 p.m.
I scream, you scream… let’s share some ice cream. It’s time for Gordon Avenue Library’s traditional kick-off for summer fun. Get started in the summer reading program, eat ice cream, and get decorated by Ginny Sieminski of Expressions! Face Painting.

Northside Library Paws to Read Purrfect Party
Friday, June 13, 2 – 3:30 p.m.
Bark and meow, prance and pounce on in for a purrfectly fun party with animal crafts and games, doggie treats, and face painting by Ginny Sieminski of Expressions! Bring in your stuffed animal to participate in our pet show.

Greene County Library Kickoff Party
Monday, June 9, 6 – 8 p.m.
Join the library for all kinds of fun including a moon bounce, ice cream, face painting, live music, juggling and unicycle stunts, and a petting zoo. Book character Geronimo Stilton will also make an appearance.

Louisa County Library Kickoff Party
Tuesday, June 10, 2 p.m.
Join the library for music provided by Doris McCray and yummy refreshments provided by the Louisa Advisory Board. While you’re there, don’t forget to sign up for “Paws to Read” to win prizes as you read throughout the summer.

Nelson Memorial Library Kickoff & Ice Cream Social
Monday, June 9, 4 – 7 p.m.
Join the library for ice cream and games, and don’t forget to sign up for “Paws to Read.”
